Basketball Recap: Southeast Lauderdale Takes a Loss

Southeast Lauderdale lost against McLaurin last Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Southeast Lauderdale Tigers were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to the McLaurin Tigers. Southeast Lauderdale just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.

Leading McLaurin to victory were Michael Wallace and Trenton White. Wallace posted 18 points along with five assists and three steals, while White put up nine points and six boards. What's more, White also posted a 80% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Tylon Williams was another key player, putting up ten points.

Southeast Lauderdale's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for McLaurin, they pushed their record up to 24-5 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home.

Southeast Lauderdale and McLaurin should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings. Southeast Lauderdale (ranked 84th) will meet West Marion (ranked 200th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, McLaurin will take on Tylertown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 119 places (85 vs. 204).
