Softball Recap: Nazarene Christian Academy Wins Going Away Against Mercy Culture Prep

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Temple Christian, Nazarene Christian Academy was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victor by an 18-1 margin over the Mercy Culture Prep Royals. That 17 run margin sets a new team best for the Lions this season.

Gracyn Whitsell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Savannah Spangler was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases. while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Gracie Clayton was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Nazarene Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Nazarene Christian Academy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Mercy Culture Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Nazarene Christian Academy has already played their next matchup, an 8-2 victory against Fellowship Academy on the 10th. Mercy Culture Prep will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Nazarene Christian Academy on April 1st.
