Baseball Game Preview: Marble Falls Mustangs vs. Salado Eagles

For the second straight game, Marble Falls will face off against Salado. The Mustangs will welcome the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Marble Falls' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Salado's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Marble Falls is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Salado just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 9-1. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Mustangs couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Salado's part, Brayden Naegele spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up eight Ks. Naegele has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Landen Noske, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trey Waters, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

The victory (which was Salado's seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Marble Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-4.
