Basketball Recap: Page County Panthers vs. Luray Bulldogs

Page County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 65-51 to the Luray Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent loss being a 49-46 defeat last Friday.

Matthew Owens continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Luray, going 6-for-8 from beyond the arc on his way to 29 points and six rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Owens now owns an excellent 45.4% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Jenkins, who went 5-for-12 en route to 17 points and five assists.

Page County's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Luray, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Page County will venture away from home to challenge Luray at 6:00 p.m. on February 25th. As for Luray, they are taking a road trip to square off against Central Woodstock at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Central Woodstock comes in on five and Luray on three.
