Softball Recap: Northwest Guilford Vikings vs. Southwest Guilford Cowboys

In what's become a running theme this season, Northwest Guilford gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They never let the Southwest Guilford Cowboys onto the board and left with a 10-0 win. Winning may never get old, but Northwest Guilford sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Bel Varadi was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Varadi has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in six consecutive pitching appearances. Varadi was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Jenna Copeland was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Haylea Huffines was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Northwest Guilford's victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-2. As for Southwest Guilford, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-4.
