Lyford is a perfect 9-0 against Progreso since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Bulldogs will look to defend their home field against the Red Ants at 11:00 a.m. Lyford will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Lyford's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Santa Rosa 15-0. Considering the Bulldogs have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Diego Medina was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Josiah Palmer was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Lyford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Progreso's offense. They lost 10-0 to Raymondville on Friday. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Red Ants were not able to get on the board.

Progreso saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Hernandez, who went 1-for-2 with one triple. That triple was Hernandez's first of the season.

Lyford has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Progreso, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-6.

Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lyford has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. However, it's not like Progreso struggles in that department as they've averaged .565. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Lyford took their win against Progreso when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 18-0 score. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Red Ants have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
