Recap: Powell County Pirates vs. Wolfe County Wolves
It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but the Powell County Pirates ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past Wolfe County 86-84. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Corey Flinchum and Dalton Voils certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Flinchum scored 28 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Voils scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Voils has scored all season. Camden Oliver was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Powell County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-11 record this season. As for Wolfe County, they dropped their record down to 10-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Powell County and Knott County Central will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Wolfe County, they will head out on the road to square off against Estill County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
