Baseball Recap: Hondo Triumphs

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hondo had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top against the Poteet Aggies by a score of 4-1. The Owls haven't had any issues with the Aggies recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Derek Elizondo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mason Barr was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolten Alvarez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Hondo's victory bumped their record up to 22-8-2. As for Poteet, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 15 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season.

Hondo will have a chance to go back-to-back against Poteet: the pair will be back at it again later today.
