Football Recap: Cherokee Takes a Loss

After flying high against Andrews last Friday, Cherokee came back down to earth. The Braves had to suffer through a 54-7 loss at the hands of the Robbinsville Black Knights. The Braves haven't had much luck with the Black Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Dawson Panther threw for 94 yards on eight of 12 attempts. Javan Garcia was his top target, picking up 118 receiving yards. On the ground, Kingston Welch rushed for 43 yards.

Luke Lovin was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 145 yards and two TDs on only six passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. What's more, he racked up 149.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Cameron Allison helped Lovin out on the ground, picking up 79 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Cherokee's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Robbinsville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Cherokee will square off against Albemarle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Welch and Shoddy Pergee. Robbinsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
