Softball Game Preview: Coventry Comets vs. Norton Panthers

The Coventry Comets will take on the Norton Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Coventry has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Coventry is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They had just enough and edged out Cuyahoga Falls 13-12 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Comets needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Springfield hit Norton with a six-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers fell 8-3 to the Spartans. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Norton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Womble, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Coventry pushed their record up to 6-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Norton, they now have a losing record of 7-8-1.
