Basketball Recap: Sandia Prep Takes a Loss

Sandia Prep lost against St. Pius X back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Sandia Prep Sundevils took a blow against the St. Pius X Sartans, falling 59-14. The game marked the Sundevils' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Sandia Prep saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ella Volkman posted five points and four steals. Those four steals gave Volkman a new career-high.

Sandia Prep's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for St. Pius X, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.

Sandia Prep will be playing at home against Legacy Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Legacy Academy has insisted on making their lastfour contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 4-0 during that stretch of close contests. As for St. Pius X, they will head out on the road to challenge Albuquerque Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
