Basketball Game Preview: Saint Viator Lions vs. Grayslake Central Rams

The Saint Viator Lions will take on the Grayslake Central Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Saint Viator is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They managed a 48-43 win over Vernon Hills. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Meanwhile, Grayslake Central came tearing into Thursday's match with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.6 points), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Sequoits as they made off with a 56-36 victory. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Sequoits are ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Grayslake Central's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.2 points over those games. As for Saint Viator, their victory bumped their record up to 20-13.

Saint Viator came up short against Grayslake Central in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 40-32. Can Saint Viator avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
