Volleyball Recap: Nekoosa Takes a Loss

Nekoosa and Westby squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Nekoosa had to settle for second. They came up short against the Norsemen, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Papermakers of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2022.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-17, 25-6.

Bristal Brock paced Nekoosa's offense, picking up six kills. Brock got some help from Aubrey Boerboom and her 16 assists. Finally, Elizabeth Ward kept Nekoosa's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Leading Westby to victory were Taylor Davidson and Emma Kirner. Davidson had 16 assists and nine digs, while Kirner had 19 digs and two assists. That's the most digs Davidson has posted since back in September.

Nekoosa has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-23 record this season. As for Westby, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-14.

Nekoosa does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Westby, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Richland Center on the 23rd.
