Basketball Recap: Caldwell Academy vs. Wesleyan Christian Academy Trojans
If Caldwell Academy were riding high off their 54-28 takedown of the Calvary Day School Cougars last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Caldwell Academy was dealt a 62-28 defeat at the hands of the Trojans on Friday. While losing is never fun, Caldwell Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Trojans are ranked 53rd).
Wesleyan Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Taylor Hawley out in front who scored 14 points along with five steals. Ashley Browne was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Caldwell Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Wesleyan Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 19-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Caldwell Academy will take on the Furies at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wesleyan Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Calvary Day School has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 8.
