Basketball Recap: San Juan Hills' Run of Six Straight Victories Now Over

After a string of six wins, San Juan Hills's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 61-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tesoro Titans. The Stallions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Titans earlier this season, when they won 67-25.

When it comes to explaining why San Juan Hills lost, don't look at Mason Hodges. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 33 points and 18 rebounds. The match was Hodges' 17th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Webb, who posted seven points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, San Juan Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

San Juan Hills' defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 19-8. As for Tesoro, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Juan Hills will take on San Clemente at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. San Juan Hills knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully San Clemente likes a good challenge. As for Tesoro, they will face off against Dana Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
