Basketball Recap: Corsicana Takes a Loss

Corsicana was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 61-50 to the Kaufman Lions. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 807th, while the Lions are ranked 212th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kaufman to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaylee Wrenn, who posted 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Kiersten Thomas was another key player, going 7 for 10 on her way to 14 points and seven boards.

Corsicana's loss dropped their record down to 13-19. As for Kaufman, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 20-8.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Corsicana Tigers duke it out with the Midlothian Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Corsicana has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Kaufman, they will face off against Crandall at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
