Basketball Game Preview: Wilkinson County Wildcats vs. Bogue Chitto Bobcats

The Wilkinson County Wildcats just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Bogue Chitto Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Wilkinson County is coming into the contest on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight wins. They slipped by West Lincoln 65-64 on Monday.

JaNorris Anthony was a one-man wrecking crew for Wilkinson County as he dropped a double-double on 27 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Anthony a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Oliver ?OJ? Packnett, Jr., who posted 12 points.

Wilkinson County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 0 offensive boards per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 11.1.

Meanwhile, Bogue Chitto waltzed into their game on Thursday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They blew past the Hornets, posting a 73-43 victory. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while the Hornets are ranked 217th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bogue Chitto pushed their record up to 20-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.6 points per game. As for Wilkinson County, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-15.

Wilkinson County was taken down by Bogue Chitto 76-29 in their previous matchup back in January. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Wilkinson County was down 55-19.
