Baseball Game Preview: Marshfield Pirates vs. Cascade Cougars

The Marshfield Pirates will take on the Cascade Cougars at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Ashland hit Marshfield with a four-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pirates fell just short of the Grizzlies by a score of 5-4. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Cascade came up short against Stayton on Thursday and fell 8-4.

Ethan Hendricks was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI. Hans Kamm was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Marshfield now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Cascade, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Marshfield came out on top in a nail-biter against Cascade in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, sneaking past 9-8. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
