The Mercer County Golden Eagles will challenge the Rockridge Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mercer County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Mercer County fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Fulton on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Steamers by a score of 15-14. The Golden Eagles' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Payton Sedam and Tannen Whitehall did some serious damage despite the final result: Sedam scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances, while Whitehall scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Kale Breeden, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

Meanwhile, Rockridge came into Tuesday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Illini West by a score of 6-3 on Tuesday.

Rockridge's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Mercer County, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
