Softball Game Preview: Lafayette Christian Academy Knights vs. Welsh Greyhounds

The Lafayette Christian Academy Knights will square off against the Welsh Greyhounds at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Lafayette Christian Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Beau Chene, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Lafayette Christian Academy blew past Beau Chene 12-6 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Welsh got themselves on the board against Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy on Thursday, but Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Tigers as they made off with a 22-0 victory. With that win, the Greyhounds brought their scoring average up to 9.2 runs per game.

Kynnedy Nunn made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs.

In other batting news, Alexis Hayes was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Maggie Johnson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Welsh hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.

Welsh's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Lafayette Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
