Football Recap: Pendleton County Starts Season with Victory Against Keyser

Pendleton County gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They strolled past the Keyser Golden Tornado with points to spare, taking the game 48-34. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but the Wildcat were the (much) better team in the second half.

Pendleton County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Travis Owens led the charge by picking up 133 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Those 133 receiving yards gave Owens a new career-high. Chase Owens did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 177 receiving yards.

Pendleton County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Corbin Dove and Owens. Another thorn in Keyser's side was Colton Roberson, who made 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Pendleton County has already played their next contest, a 56-36 victory against East Hardy on the 5th. As for Keyser, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 49-8 win against Lewis County on the 5th.
