Soccer Game Preview: Silsbee vs. Lumberton

Silsbee hasn't had much luck against Lumberton recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Silsbee Tigers will welcome the Lumberton Raiders at 7:00 p.m.

Silsbee is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Bridge City on Tuesday. Silsbee fell just short of Bridge City by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 628th, while the Cardinals are ranked 185th).

Meanwhile, Lumberton waltzed into their contest on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Their defense stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 2-0 shutout. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Raiders were the better team in the second half.

Jaxan Tallina and Andrew Hansen scored both of Lumberton's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 22 goals.

Lumberton pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four games. As for Silsbee, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
