Basketball Recap: Franklin Takes a Loss

Franklin was the 65-47 winner over Racine Park when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Franklin Sabers took a 67-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Racine Park Panthers on Friday. Even though they lost, the Sabers' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 51 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Despite the loss, Franklin still got an impressive performance from Brenna Nichols, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. Taylor Truong was another key player, putting up 11 points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Franklin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February.

Racine Park was led to victory by Addison Betker and Ellie Khreish. Betker dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards, while Khreish dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 boards. With that strong performance, Khreish is now averaging an impressive 15.9 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Gomez, who posted six points.

Franklin dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Racine Park, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

Franklin and Wauwatosa West will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin is facing Wauwatosa West at the right time seeing as Wauwatosa West is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Racine Park, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-45 victory against Burlington on the 14th.
