In what's become a running theme this season, Animo Leadership gave their fans yet another huge win on Monday. Everything went their way against the Hawthorne Cougars as the Animo Leadership Aztec Eagles made off with a 12-4 victory. Winning may never get old, but Animo Leadership sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Erik Castro made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also didn't allow any walks). Castro was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Animo Leadership got a massive performance out of Jarrett Coleman, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Coleman hasn't dropped below two stolen bases for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Axel Serrano, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.
Animo Leadership's win bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Hawthorne, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
Animo Leadership will head out on the road to take on St. Monica at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Animo Leadership knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with flashy run totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully St. Monica likes a good challenge. As for Hawthorne, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Morningside at 3:15 p.m. Morningside hasn't scored more than two runs for five games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.
