Soccer Game Preview: Whittell vs. Yerington

Whittell is 1-9 against Yerington since September of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Lions at 4:00 p.m. Whittell is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

Whittell will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Battle Mountain, who they had gone 0-8-1 against in their nine prior meetings. The Warriors never let the Longhorns get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Friday. Whittell's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four matches.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Peter Hansel, who's now up to two this season.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Yerington made sure to put some goals up on the board against White Pine on Saturday. They blew past the Bobcats 4-0. Considering Yerington have won four contests by more than three goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Whittell's record is now 4-2. As for Yerington, their record now sits at 5-2.

Whittell suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Yerington when the teams last played back in September. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Warriors were down 4-0.
