Preview: Maple Mountain Golden Eagles vs. Wasatch Wasps
The Maple Mountain Golden Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Wasatch Wasps at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Maple Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
Maple Mountain suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. Their tough 50-27 loss to Timpview might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Maple Mountain has scored all season.
Despite their loss, Maple Mountain saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jaynee Tanner, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two blocks, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Kylee Gause, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Wasatch can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Spanish Fork as Wasatch made off with a 63-38 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Wasatch has posted since December 15, 2023.
Maple Mountain's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-4. As for Wasatch, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-3.
Maple Mountain lost to Wasatch on the road by a decisive 54-40 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Maple Mountain avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
