Softball Recap: Citrus Wins Going Away Against Lecanto

Citrus lost to Lecanto two weeks ago, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. Everything went the Citrus Hurricanes' way against the Lecanto Panthers as the Citrus Hurricanes made off with a 10-4 win. Considering the Hurricanes have won three matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Paisley Williamson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Baylie Goodwin, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Kaydence Bailey also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Goodwin wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Citrus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Citrus' victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Lecanto, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-8.

When Citrus and Lecanto next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Citrus will challenge Tavares and their three-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Citrus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season. Similarly, Lecanto will try to stop Crystal River's six-game winning streak when they meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
