Soccer Recap: Tonopah Valley Takes a Loss

Tonopah Valley was the 2-1 winner over Yuma Catholic when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Tonopah Valley Phoenix came up short against the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks on Thursday, falling 15-0. While losing is never fun, the Phoenix can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Shamrocks are ranked 39th).

Tonopah Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Yuma Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tonopah Valley will challenge Valley Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Yuma Catholic, they will square off against Kingman at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Kingman will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Yuma Catholic surely won't give up without a fight.
