Volleyball Game Preview: Henry Clay Blue Devils vs. Lafayette Generals

The Henry Clay Blue Devils will face off against the Lafayette Generals at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Henry Clay is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.

On Wednesday, Henry Clay made easy work of Powell County and carried off a 3-0 win.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Henry Clay took every set by at least 18 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-6, 25-5, 25-7.

Henry Clay can attribute much of their success to Cooper Pugh, who had four digs and four aces. That's the most aces Pugh has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, Lafayette faced Pikeville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Generals walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Panthers.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-13, 22-25, 25-18.

Henry Clay's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-7. As for Lafayette, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.

Henry Clay took their victory against Lafayette when the teams last played on Monday by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Generals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
