Softball Recap: Green Run Victorious

Green Run's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 24-1 margin over the Booker T. Washington Mighty Bookers. Considering the Stallions' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Chyann Soule made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Soule was also big at the plate, scoring five runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Green Run got a massive performance out of Caleigh Sgambelluri, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Jade Zabala was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI.

Green Run's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Booker T. Washington, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Green Run will square off against Indian River at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Booker T. Washington, they will welcome Norfolk Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
