Softball Game Preview: Lindale Eagles vs. Athens Hornets

The Lindale Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Athens Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Lindale is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Van just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 6-0 to the Vandals.

Lindale saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Merrick Gary, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Athens' offense. They came up short against Canton on Friday, falling 15-0. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lindale's defeat dropped their record down to 16-8-1. As for Athens, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.

Everything went Lindale's way against Athens when the teams last played back in March, as Lindale made off with a 14-5 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
