Basketball Game Preview: Progreso Red Ants vs. Lyford Bulldogs

The Progreso Red Ants will venture away from home to take on the Lyford Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

Last Friday, Progreso was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 35-34 to IDEA Riverview.

Meanwhile, Lyford had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points) and they went ahead and made it 15 on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 78-19 win over IDEA Frontier College Prep. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Lyford's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.9 points over those games. As for Progreso, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-19.

Progreso might still be hurting after the 49-27 loss they got from Lyford when the teams last played back in January. Can Progreso avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
