Softball Recap: Oakdale's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Oakdale had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bear Creek Bruins a 7-0 shutout. The win was familiar territory for the Mustangs, who have now won four contests in a row.

Jaelyn Lee (UOP) made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Lee (UOP) was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

Lee (UOP) wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Reese Donaldson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs. Jayci Volonte was another, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Oakdale pushed their record up to 15-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bear Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 17-5.

Coming up, Oakdale will challenge Manteca at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buffaloes have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. Bear Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
