Shelby Hunt commands the offense for Minotaur win

Recap: Odyssey Institute Minotaur vs. San Tan Foothills Sabercats

Make it six blowout wins for the Odyssey Institute Minotaur this season. They put the hurt on San Tan Foothills with a sharp 44-21 win on Monday. Odyssey Institute pushed the score to 36-8 by the end of the third, a deficit San Tan Foothills cut but never quite recovered from.

Odyssey Institute's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shelby Hunt led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Hunt is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played. Eva Garcia Carrillo was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

San Tan Foothills' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashleigh Hanson, who scored four points.

Odyssey Institute is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-12 record this season. As for San Tan Foothills, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-15.

Tonopah Valley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 15 points in their last 13 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for San Tan Foothills, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Coolidge at 5:30 p.m. Coolidge will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
