Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southern Guilford). They couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 78-42 blowout they got against the Atkins Camels. This was payback for the Storm, who suffered a 42-21 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southern Guilford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Danielle Walker, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Walker a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Charlee Slaughter, who went 6 of 8 en route to 13 points along with seven boards and seven steals.

Atkins' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Amanda Worrell, who went 8 of 19 on her way to 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals, and Emerson Kiang-Wilson, who posted six points and seven rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Southern Guilford and bumps their season record up to 3-10. As for Atkins, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

Southern Guilford wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-51 defeat against Ben L. Smith on the 8th. As for Atkins, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-39 loss against Northeast Guilford on the 9th.
