Baseball Game Preview: Montrose Rams vs. Mt. Morris Panthers

The Montrose Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the Mt. Morris Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Montrose has given up an average of 12.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Millington hit Montrose with a six-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rams came up short against the Cardinals, falling 11-1. The Rams have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Mt. Morris has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 4.1 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They lost 11-4 to New Lothrop.

Mt. Morris has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Montrose, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.

Montrose was able to grind out a solid victory over Mt. Morris in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
