Preview: Atlee Raiders vs. J.R. Tucker Tigers
The Atlee Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the J.R. Tucker Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Atlee will be strutting in after a victory while J.R. Tucker will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Tuesday, Atlee didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Varina, but they still walked away with a 53-47 victory. The victory was just what Atlee needed coming off of a 63-28 loss in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, J.R. Tucker's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Godwin at home and fell 50-9. While losing is never fun, J.R. Tucker can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while Godwin is ranked 106th).
Atlee's victory bumped their record up to 5-13. As for J.R. Tucker, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-12.
Atlee came up short against J.R. Tucker when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 44-38. Can Atlee avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
