Baseball Recap: Gridley Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Gridley can now relate to. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lassen Grizzlies on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Gridley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luis Murillo, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Gridley moved to 19-9 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak. As for Lassen, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-11.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Gridley will take on West Valley at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season. As for Lassen, they will challenge Yreka at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Miners will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Grizzlies surely won't give up without a fight.
