Overton is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since January 23, 2024 on Thursday. They had just enough and edged Sandhills/Thedford out 33-30. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Overton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Halynn Hughes out in front who posted three points and 16 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Daisy Ryan, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 boards.

Overton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in 37 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Shelton came tearing into Thursday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 55-18 blowout they got against the Bluejays. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 31 points or more this season.

Shelton's win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.8 points. As for Overton, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
