Softball Game Preview: Lockwood Tigers vs. Stockton Tigers

Lockwood hasn't had much luck against Stockton recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Lockwood will take on Stockton at 5:00 p.m. Lockwood's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Stockton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Lockwood is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Missouri's top teams: Diamond, who was ranked fifth at the time (Lockwood was ranked 25th). The Tigers came up short against the Wildcats on Tuesday, falling 7-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Tigers have suffered since March 16, 2024.

Kallie Griffin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Stockton didn't have quite enough to beat Marionville on Tuesday and fell 8-7. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Raelyn Henderson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Abercrombie, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Lockwood's defeat dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Stockton, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.

Lockwood might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Stockton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Lockwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
