Baseball Recap: Mason County Wins Going Away Against Augusta

Mason County got themselves on the board against Augusta on Monday, but Augusta never followed suit. They blew past the Panthers 8-0. The victory continues a trend for the Royals in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won nine in a row.

Brody Pfeffer looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Mason County: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Luke Butler, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Mason County is 3-1 when Butler posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Mefford, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

The win got Mason County back to even at 6-6. As for Augusta, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-9.
