Preview: McDowell Titans vs. Patton Panthers
Having just played yesterday, the McDowell Titans will get right back to it and host the Patton Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on December 29th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
McDowell has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season. They took their game at home on Thursday with ease, bagging a 71-35 victory over Avery County. That 71-35 margin sets a new team best for McDowell this season.
Eli Elliott continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Parkins, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Patton entered their tilt with East Burke with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Patton came out on top against East Burke by a score of 54-44 on Thursday. Given Patton's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while East Burke is ranked 473rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
McDowell's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Patton, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
