Basketball Game Preview: Greenacres Christian Panthers vs. Morningside Academy Eagles

Greenacres Christian is 0-4 against Morningside Academy since January of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Greenacres Christian Panthers will head out to square off against the Morningside Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Greenacres Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.

Greenacres Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 71-62 win over BridgePrep Village Green on Monday.

Greenacres Christian can attribute much of their success to Jashad Hymes, who went 10 of 23 on his way to 24 points along with six boards and five assists, and Brendan Daniels, who went 6 of 14 en route to 16 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Daniels' evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rahmello Makonnen, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Greenacres Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Morningside Academy strolled past Berean Christian with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 56-37.

Morningside Academy's win came from a few key players Greenacres Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Stephen Moss, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in steals (five). Another player making a difference was AJ Chang, who dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 13 boards, and ten assists.

The victory got Greenacres Christian back to even at 4-4. As for Morningside Academy, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Greenacres Christian has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Morningside Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
