Football Recap: Mountain View Takes a Loss

Mountain View played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the South El Monte Eagles, falling 49-14. If the Vikings were looking for revenge after losing 42-0 to the Eagles when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Manuel Gonzales threw for 135 yards and a pair of TDs. Noah Olmos was his top target, picking up 108 receiving yards. On the ground, Everardo Nunez rushed for 29 yards.

South El Monte got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Michael Maldonado out in front who threw for 202 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes. Damian Cordova helped Maldonado out on the ground, rushing for 114 yards, while also picking up 30 receiving yards.

Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for South El Monte, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Mountain View wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 49-27 defeat against Gabrielino on the 26th. As for South El Monte, they have also already played their next game, a 35-28 win against Arroyo on the 26th.
