Softball Game Preview: Oneida Express vs. Chittenango Bears

The Oneida Express will head out to face off against the Chittenango Bears at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

On Monday, Oneida got the win against Vernon-Verona-Sherrill by a conclusive 28-10. The Express haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Chittenango came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Red Raiders as they made off with a 13-1 victory.

Lauren Machan was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Machan was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Chittenango got a massive performance out of Alivia Cavotta, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave Cavotta a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of MacKenna Palko, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The win got Oneida back to even at 1-1. As for Chittenango, their record now sits at 4-1.
