Soccer Game Preview: Spring Mills vs. Washington

The Spring Mills Cardinals are taking a road trip to challenge the Washington Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Washington better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Spring Mills' game on Monday is any indication, that's when Spring Mills really gets things going. The Cardinals' defense stepped up to hand Hedgesville a 3-0 shutout. Dominic Moody had to tread lightly for part of the match after he was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble Spring Mills got from the refs.

Chace Butler and Matyas Gruber scored all three of Spring Mills' goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Washington). They blew past Jefferson 5-0 on Tuesday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded Washington with their most commanding win of the season.

Washington now has a winning record of 5-4-1. As for Spring Mills, their win ended a three-match drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6-1.
