The Crisp County Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Pierce County Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Crisp County easily dispatched Tattnall County last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Cougars fell just short of Appling County by a score of 29-27 on Friday. The Cougars have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Hagan Slimp, who threw for 115 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 32 yards.

Meanwhile, Pierce County strolled into their game last Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Cook with a sharp 34-13 win. Considering the Bears have won five games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Crisp County better focus on containing Jaeveon Williams and Drake Dowling as the pair were huge in Pierce County's win. Williams rushed for 199 yards and two TDs while picking up 8.7 yards per carry, while Dowling rushed for 143 yards while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Those 199 rushing yards gave Williams a new career-high. Chance Williams was in the mix too, providing Pierce County with two scores.

Pierce County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 342 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cook only rushed for 138.

Crisp County's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Pierce County, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.

Crisp County was dealt a bruising 34-6 defeat at the hands of Pierce County in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Cougars were down 28-0.
