Preview: Conifer Lobos vs. Wheat Ridge Farmers
Conifer has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Wheat Ridge Farmers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Conifer comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 55-18, which was the final score in Conifer's tilt against Eagle Valley on Saturday. That's two games in a row now that Conifer has lost by exactly 37 points.
Meanwhile, Wheat Ridge lost to Bear Creek on the road by a decisive 50-32 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, Wheat Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Bear Creek is ranked 102nd).
Conifer dropped their record down to 3-17 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Wheat Ridge, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost ten of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.
Conifer couldn't quite finish off Wheat Ridge in their previous meeting back in January and fell 34-32. Can Conifer avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
