Volleyball Recap: Newark Has No Trouble Against Teays Valley

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pickerington Central, Newark was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Teays Valley Vikings with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Newark's got stronger as the match went on, holding Teays Valley to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-20, 25-19.

Makayla Meister paced Newark's offense, picking up 15 kills. Meister got some help from Peyton Sherman and her 33 assists.

Despite the loss, Teays Valley had strong showings from Ellie Tatman, who had 25 digs and one assist, and Emma Minton, who had 14 digs and three aces. Minton has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played. Maddy Kennedy was another key player, getting nine digs and two aces.

Newark's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Teays Valley, they moved to 10-9 with that defeat, which also ended their three-match winning streak.

Newark didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 win against Dublin Jerome on the 4th. As for Teays Valley, they will be playing at home against Westerville North at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
