Catawba Ridge has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the South Pointe Stallions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Catawba Ridge's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 13 matches.
In what's become a running theme this season, Catawba Ridge gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past Northwestern 67-36 at home. Given Catawba Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Northwestern is ranked 66th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Catawba Ridge's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Lance Barnes, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds, and Zyan Hager, who scored 19 points along with six steals. Hager hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Foley, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
South Pointe posted their biggest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They blew past York, posting a 68-33 win at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for South Pointe.
Catawba Ridge pushed their record up to 18-2 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.6 points per game. As for South Pointe, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.
Catawba Ridge strolled past South Pointe when the teams last played two weeks ago by a score of 65-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Catawba Ridge since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
